Robert D. Kostenbader, Sr., 90, formerly of Freeport, died Tuesday January 15, 2013 at Azura Memory Home in Monroe, Wisconsin. Robert was born on April 25, 1922 in Freeport, the son of Glen and Carrie (Scheider) Kostenbader. Robert served for the U.S. Navy in World War II. He worked for Honeywell and owned and operated Town & Country Antenna Services. Robert married Virginia Keister in Freeport in 1944. Virginia died in April of 1966. Robert then married Colleen Conroy. Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Club, Eagles Club, AMVETS, and the American Legion. Surviving Robert are his wife, Colleen Kostenbader of LaGrange Park; three sons, Robert Jr. (Cynthia) Kostenbader, Kenneth (Marlene) Kostenbader, and Phillip 'Phil' Kostenbader all of Freeport; two daughters Shirley (Jim) Nelson of Freeport and Cheryl Kostenbader of Pomona, CA.; 14 grandchildren, Jim Nelson, Cathy (Nate) Conder, Shawn (Angie) Nelson, Mike Stuart, Pat Curran, Rhonda (Ed) Applequist, Greg Stuart, Scott Stuart, Tammy Stuart, Kenneth (Belinda) Kostenbader, Lorie (Mike) Gennusa, Mike Kostenbader and Virginia (Randy) Gill, Phillip 'PJ' (Shelly) Kostenbader. Also surviving are 18 great-great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Virginia Kostenbader, sister, Rosella (Bennett) Graff and daughter-in-law, Amber Kostenbader. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday January 21, 2013 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Rev Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Robert'™s memory.
