Robert "Bob" Douglas Gloden

Robert "Bob" Douglas Gloden, 83, of Freeport, IL passed away on March 22, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on February 16, 1940 in Princeton, IL the son of Orland and Helen (Malberg) Gloden. He married his high school sweetheart Cecilia Plum on October 7, 1962 at Walnut Methodist Church in Walnut, IL. Together they moved to Freeport, IL for Bob to begin his barber apprenticeship. He later bought the barber shop and continued to cut hair until his retirement in 2012. Bob was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #679 in Freeport. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed boating on the Rock River in Dixon and Sterling and on the Mississippi in Dubuque, Iowa.

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cecilia Gloden of Freeport; one daughter, Christine (George) Flanigan of Genoa; two granddaughters, Julia Arlene Flanigan and Olivia Jean Flanigan; one sister Edith JoAnne Hamrick of FL; one nephew, two nieces and four great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Gloden.

A Memorial Service will immediately follow the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Service at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeremy Heller, officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00pm-2:00pm at the funeral home. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Freeport Health Network Hospice in Freeport.
