Richard P. Nieman

Richard Nieman of Freeport, IL formerly of Rock Grove, IL died July 8th, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born on August 16, 1969 in Freeport, IL. The son of Robert E. and Dixie Nieman. Rick attended Dakota High School and received his GED from Highland Community College in 1987. He worked for several years as a farm hand doing field work. In past years, he also enjoyed motorcycles, fishing trips in Northern Wisconsin with family and spending time with friends. He overcame several health challenges including three kidney transplants with perseverance and courage. Rick's biggest love was for his dogs including Princess, Mick, Hunter, Oreo and presently his American Bulldogs, Luna and Cora. He also spend his last few years enjoying his newest interest, his electric bike. He is survived by and will be missed by his siblings: Kathy (Bill) Griffin, Peggy (Bob) Bendel and Robert (Jodi) Nieman. Nieces and Nephews: Bill (Susan) Griffin, Kari Griffin, Brooke (Dan Reed) Griffin, Nikki (Andy) Nolan and Kyle (Shelby) Nieman. Great Nieces and Great Nephews: William, Wesley, Lillian, Wyatt, Taylor, Keaghan, Kinsley, Kolton, Graci, Dixi, Mackley, Elise also a Great-niece on the way, and extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and grandparents. Special Thank-you to his doctors and nurses in Madison, WI, Freeport, IL and the Freeport Dialysis Team for their care and compassion through out the years. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday July 17, 2021 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL with Rev. Laurie Allen officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 P.M. Friday also at Burke-Tubbs, Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Friend Forever Humane Society in Richard's memory.
