Richard F. Sauer

Richard F. Sauer, 76, of Freeport, died Thursday March 15, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Richard was born on February 17, 1936 in Freeport the son of Aloysius and Camillus (Sherwin) Sauer. Richard served for his country in the U.S. Army. On May 23, 1959, Richard married Ruthann Isaacs in Freeport. Richard managed the Four Season'™s Bowling Alley in Freeport for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph'™s Catholic Church in Lena. Family was extremely important to Richard; he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Richard also enjoyed playing golf. Surviving Richard are his wife; Ruthann Sauer of Lena, three daughters; Michele (Wes) Kolb of Normal, IL, Kathy (Bob) Jacobs of Valparaiso, IN and Jodi (Matt) Block of Lena, sister; Norma Wolfe, seven grandchildren; Megan (Brian), Lindsay (Keith), Lauren, Bobby, Katie, Jared and Jensen, great grandson; Reid. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Susan Block. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 24, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lena with Father Max Streidl officiating. There will be a visitation Friday March 23, 2012 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport; from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Richard'™s memory.
