Richard E. Young

Richard E. Young, 83, of Lena passed away Wednesday March 29, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born September 19, 1933 in Freeport to Earl and Anna (Habecker) Young. On October 3, 1953 he married Gail Mackert in Freeport. Gail died March 24, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Micro-Switch as a tool and die maker for 43 years. Richard was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and Eagles Club #679. During his free time Richard really enjoyed painting and drawing. Surviving are his son Timothy (Kelly) Young of Monroe; daughter Jackie (Mike) Kuckes of Lena; seven grandchildren Doug (Anne King) Stone, Nate Stone, Kyleigh Kuckes, Emily (Joe Mauseth) Kuckes, Caitlin Kuckes (Jake Luttropp), Corey (Melissa) Young and Alyssa Young; two great-grandchildren Brayden and Greyson Young; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, brothers Robert and Lorel Brig, and sister Maxine "Mickey" Fitz. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday April 3, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Precht officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service. Entombment will be in the Oakland Mausoleum. A memorial has been established in his name.
