Richard "Dick" Hartman

Richard "Dick" Hartman, 81, of Freeport, died Monday December 4, 2017 at Alexian Brothers Hospice Home in Elk Grove Village. Richard was born June 5, 1936 in Freeport, the son of George and Edna (Funk) Hartman. He married Marilyn Quittschreiber February 28, 1959 in Freeport. Marilyn died June 18, 2014. Richard attended Freeport Schools and DeVry Technical College. He served for his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Richard worked at Civil Constructors for 54 years. He also owned and operated Richlyn TV and Radio Repair. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Richard enjoyed wintering in South Padre Island, Texas, traveling in his R.V., spending time at his cabin on the Mississippi River, and he loved racing with his son. Surviving are his son, Michael (Cheryl) Hartman of Ridgeway, Wisconsin; daughter, Shari (Mike) Nissen of Freeport; brothers and sisters, Elton (Fay) Hartman of Freeport, Mary (Joe) Coates of Freeport, Darlene (Larry) Torine of Monroe and George Hartman Jr. of Freeport; brother-in-law, Robert (Pat) Quittschreiber; and sister-in-law, Jane Lindenman; seven grandchildren, Dustin (Stephanie) Nissen, Brian (Alexa) Nissen, Alexis Nissen, Annie Nissen, Traci (Andrew) Fassbender, Amanda (Michael) LeGrand, and Taylor Colin; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Hartman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, several brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 9, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. The family recommends casual attire to the service. Pastor Stephen Precht will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday December 8, 2017 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Our Redeemer. Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
