Richard Blackmon, 49, departed this life Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Freeport Memorial Hospital due to a sudden illness. On January 20, 1963 he was born in Chicago to Mrs. Lillian (Lee) and Mr. Ronald Blackmon Sr. Richard attended Morgan Park High School in Chicago. He obtained his General Education Diploma from Olive Harvey College in Chicago. Richard married Nola Brooks on January 29, 2001 in Ottawa, IL. He worked as a fork lift operator at Brenner Foods Alfokey, Il/ Android Belvidere, IL./ Kolb-Lena Cheese Co. Lena, IL. Richard confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He started his day (daily) by reading his bible and watching Joyce Meyers. He knew the bible well. He loved watching T.V., Football (Go Packers), Basketball (Miami Heat) and Boxing was his favorite sports. He also loved spending time with Diamond, (his pit-bull). He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 13 years. Nola (Brooks) Blackmon, one daughter (Erica Blackmon), one son (Deshanne Davis), three step children, Falacia, Charles and Terryell, his parents Mr. Mrs. Ronald Blackmon Sr., two sisters Sonya (Lynn) Price and Christine Lee, one brother Ronald (Tawanna) Blackmon Jr., five grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of cousins and friends and his favorite brother in law Joseph Brooks. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one son, Maritz Blackmon. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12 at Faith For Miracle Deliverance and Worship Center, officiating Bishop James A. Wade. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
