Richard A. Gustafson

Richard A. Gustafson, 68, of Forreston, died Tuesday April 5, 2016 in his home. He was born June 21, 1947 in Rockford, IL, the son of Virgil and Gloria (Stewart) Gustafson. He married Barbara Kinney November 17, 1972 in Freeport, IL. Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving two tours in Vietnam. He worked as a farmer, school bus driver for Forreston School District, and also at Wal-Mart for 16 years. He was a member of North Grove Evangelical Church in Forreston. He was a 1967 graduate of Forreston High School. He enjoyed model trains and farming. Richard is survived by his wife Barbara Gustafson of Forreston, IL; his daughters Mary (Brian) Peters of Genoa, IL and Sherri (Scott) Rempfer of Cherry Valley, IL; his brother-in-law Robert Kinney of Lincolnton, GA; his nephew Philip (Debra) Kinney of Lincolnton, GA; his niece Rebekah (Grayson) Gobel of Lincolnton, GA; four grandchildren; and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons at birth, his foster parents Frederick and Myrtle Zumdahl and sister-in-law Lucy Kinney. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 10, 2016 at North Grove Evangelical Church in rural Forreston with Rev. Tim Hotchkiss officiating. Burial will be in North Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Forreston American Legion Post 308. A memorial has been established for Hospice of America and New Life Community Center.
