Richard A. Anderson

Richard A. Anderson, 74, of Freeport, IL, joined his wife in heaven, on her birthday, on Friday January 27, 2017. He was born on September 28, 1942 in Freeport, IL, the son of Robert and Marie (Wittbecker) Anderson. He married Vicki Schulthess on April 3, 1971 in Pearl City, IL; she died November 28, 2014. Richard worked for Structo, Rockford Products, and Bocker Automotive Group. He had a love for music and was the lead vocalist of many Freeport area bands throughout the years. ; The Corvairs, The Fugitives, Bandit, and The Flame just to name a few. Rich also enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Orangeville Bronco Softball fan. Richard is survived by his sons Michael (Elizabeth) Anderson of Albany, WI and Scott (Kelly) Anderson of Metropolis, IL; his daughter Stephanie (Robert) Robb of Winslow, IL; his brothers Jim Anderson of Ridott, Il and Jerry "Doc" (Rita) Anderson of San Tan Valley, AZ; his sister-in-law Sharon (Tony) Barthel of Freeport, Il; his brother-in-laws Tim (Vicki) Castle and Jeff (Larae) Castle both of Freeport, Il; his grandchildren Tess, Teigan, Tyler, Michaella, Morgan Jane, Nathen, Brett, Jeremiah, and Zachariah; his great-grandchildren Emmie, Mi'Drea, Tristan, Chase, and Max; and special nieces JoAnn Mathews, Rose Meyers, and Kathy Sikora. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his sister Doris 'Laurie" Gift, and two brothers Harry and Ronnie Anderson Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday February 1, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday also at Burke-Tubbs. A memorial has been established in his memory.
