Renate H Bawinkel

Renate H. Bawinkel, 75, of Freeport, died Saturday June 4, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Renate was born on July 27, 1935 in Schaidt Pflatz, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm and Hedwig (Metz) Vogel. She arrived in New York City on April 1, 1958 from Germany. Renate loved the U.S.A. On February 20, 1960 Renate married Dennis Bawinkel in Freeport. Renate worked for Micro Switch-Honeywell before retiring. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Moose Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband; Dennis of Freeport, two sons; Scott (Vicki) Bawinkel of Fox Grove, and Brian Bawinkel of Placerville, California, one daughter; Carmen (William) Graves of Freeport, one brother; Peter Vogel of Germany, two sisters; Christa (Rafael) Babay of Beverly Hills, California and Margot Waters of Bogart, Georgia. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Travis and Maiya Graves of Freeport and Cooper Bawinkel. Preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday June 8, 2011 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Larry Elliott officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs. Burial of cremains will take place in Silver Creek Reformed Cemetery in German Valley. Memorials have been established for Eagles Club 679 and the Leonard C Ferguson Foundation in Renate'™s memory.
