Raymond Moen

July 28, 1937 — April 9, 2023

Raymond Moen, 85, of Freeport, passed away, Sunday April 9, 2023, in his home. Raymond was born July 28, 1937, in Rockford, Illinois, to Carl and Mabel (Moen) Moen. He graduated from West High School. Ray served in the Army Reserve from 1960 to 1966. He worked at Ingersoll Milling Machine Company of Rockford for 40 years. His final years of work were as a Water Quality Technician at the Rock River Reclamation District in Rockford.

In 1961, Ray married Jacqueline (Morgan) and together had their loved daughter, Suzanne. Ray and Jackie were married for 47 beautiful years before her passing in 2008. In 2016, Ray and Judy Erenz found love and married. Ray and Judy were able to spend the last seven wonderful years traveling extensively together during their senior years and sharing in their mutual interests.

Ray, a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pecatonica, was a born-again Christian who loved the outdoors and praised God for His creation. He was a fun, loving, compassionate Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and friend. He loved to boat, fish, and collect antiques; but most of all; Ray loved his dogs and flowers.

He will especially be remembered for his ambition to travel; having traveled to places such as Antarctica, St. Angel Falls in Venezuela, and even taking his two granddaughters to Norway.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mabel Moen; brother, Arnold Moen; nephew, Gene Moen; and his first wife, Jacqueline.

Surviving is his daughter, Suzanne (Scott) Sarauer; granddaughters, Stephanie (Krestan) Roser, Katelyn Sarauer; beloved Great Grandchildren, Hudson, Oliver, and Lilian Roser; and his current wife, Judy.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday April 17, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Pecatonica. Pastor David Myers will officiate. Visitation 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Raymond's memory.
