Randall "R.C." Keith

Randall (RC) Keith (87) of Freeport, passed away Saturday January 30, 2021 at home. He was born on January 13, 1934, in Freeport, the son of Fred (Fritz) Keith and Arline (Lang) Keith. A 1952 graduate of Freeport High School, Randall was Korean veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. He married Mildred (Millie Toepfer) on July 4, 1964 in Rockford, IL. Randall retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after 22 years, drove school bus for Freeport School District #145 for eight years, retiring permanently 2001. His memberships included Germania Club and Eagles Club. RC was an avid golfer playing at Park Hills Golf Course since it opened 1955. He especially enjoyed 25 years of golfing with his many friends on the trips north to Sentry World Golf Course in Stevens Point, WI. He was immensely proud of the four holes- in- one he scored in his golfing career. RC is survived his wife Millie, daughter Lynne (Dan) McMullin of San Diego, CA, sons, Michael Keith of Seminole, OK, Matthew (Judy) Keith, Chugiak, AK, Martin Keith, Denver, CO. two stepsons, Steven Toepfer of Copper-As-Cove, TX., and Spencer (Sue) Toepfer of Freeport. Grandchildren Caitlyn and Duncan Keith of Chugiak, AK, two step-grandchildren Stephanie Vandever and Mathew Toepfer, four step great grandchildren Sam Toepfer, Alice and Rowan Vandever and Leland Toepfer. Two sisters, Sandra Keith, of Galesburg, IL, and Cheryl (William) Budenz of Freeport, Half -brother Robert Keith of Freeport. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Friday February 5, 2021 3:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. The family requests casual attire be worn at the visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded after visitation and private burial at later date at Oakland Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
