Randall "Randy" Lee Musser

Randall "Randy" Lee Musser, 68, of Champaign passed away on December 1, 2022, after he chose to enter into Hospice care following an illness. Randy was born December 7, 1953 in Freeport to Terry and Audrey Musser. He grew up on the family farm in Pearl City, graduating from Pearl City High School in 1972 and attended Highland Community College, UW Platteville and earned his Masters degree from Northern Illinois University. He married Lark Hasselman of Freeport in 1979, together they raised their children and were very active in their church and community together and remained lifelong friends. On April 21, 2016, Randy married David Robertson whom he enjoyed many years with. Starting his career as a grade school teacher Randy became a lifelong educator through roles as a Principal, Sunday school teacher, ESL instructor at Highland, and Administrator of GED within the prison system. Randy wanted everyone to succeed and took immense joy in seeing people learn and grow. He strived each day to make people laugh and add positivity to their day. He loved being around people, going to church, playing card games, going for walks, soaking up the sun, and his family. Randy is survived by his mother, Audrey Musser; Lark Musser; children: Blake (Terri) Musser and Autumn (Ben) Kubatzke; grandchildren: Hazel, Soren Musser and Emily, Ella Kubatzke; brothers: Roger (Karen) Musser, Larry (Lisa) Musser; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father Terry Musser and husband David Robertson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 3:00-6:00 p.m., the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 7 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. All services will be held at St. John UCC, 1010 S. Park Blvd, Freeport, IL. A memorial service will also be held for Randy at his home church, Community UCC in Champaign at a later date.
