Ramadan K. "Don" Sala

Ramadan K. "Don" Sala, 84, of Freeport, died Saturday, December 1, 2018. Don was born August 8, 1934 in Mborje, Albania, the son of Kadri and Zeynep Sala. Don owned and operated Don's Oasis from December 1970 until his death. When Don wasn't at his restaurant he enjoyed being outdoors. He had a love for many animals. Don was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Evergreen Lodge 170 and Valley of Freeport Scottish Rite. Surviving are his son, Alp (Pimonsiri "Lexi") Sala of Freeport; daughter, Figen (Martin) Ortiz of Ft. Myers, Florida; brother, James (Tina) Sala of Brodhead, Wisconsin; and two grandchildren, Angelina and Auston Sala. Don was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and daughter, Sibel on September 9, 1980. Funeral and Masonic services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 8, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday December 7, 2018 also at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Shriners Children Hospital in Mr. Sala's memory.
