Phillip S. Poe, 58, of Leaf River died Monday April 21, 2014 at Swedish American Hospital Rockford after bravely fighting a difficult battle with cancer. Over the past several years, Phillip had grown to love driving a semi as a career and being able to experience much of the United States because of it. In his spare time he enjoyed watching and listening to practically any sports game and considered himself a major fan of Chicago teams such as the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and the Blackhawks. He also enjoyed settling down by blasting all varieties of music through the house and found fellowship with his family by doing so. Another hobby of Phil's was working on computers in any way he could. Phil found joy in giving gifts to his family, and was always more than happy to provide for them by whatever means possible. His sense of humor and giving heart will be missed by all. Phillip is survived by his wife, Linda Poe of Leaf River, IL; their three children, Michael, Samantha, and Christina Poe of Leaf River, IL; his mother, Myrtle Poe of Ripley, TN; his sister Gail (husband Rob) Mcquiston of Laceys Spring, AL and their family; and his brother, Stanley Poe of Ripley, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Poe of Ripley, TN and his Aunt Mamie of Ripley, TN. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 2 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Byron (220 E 2nd St, Byron, IL 61010). Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. A memorial has been established in Phillip's memory. Please sign the guestbook and share a memory at www.burketubbs.com.
