Phillip C. Nordgren, Jr., 71, of Freeport, died Saturday October 17, 2015 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was born November 15, 1943 in Chicago, IL, the son of Phillip and Ruth (Gilling) Nordgren Sr. He married Deborah Brown November 14, 2009 at Prince of Peace Church in Freeport. Phillip was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and the University of Wisconsin Madison where he earned his MBA. For twenty years plus he was a printing sales representative, moving his way up to vice president of sales at Arandell Schmidt Corp. out of Menomonee Falls. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport, and his faith and church participation was a very important part of his life. He was avid in health and fitness, setting and breaking records in track and cross country for many years. He loved playing tennis and he started three generations of tennis players in his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fast cars. Phillip is survived by his wife Deborah Brown Nordgren of Freeport, IL; his son P.J. Nordgren of Kirkland, IL; two daughters Amy (Andy) McCarthy of Cape Coral, FL and Christa Nordgren of Kirkland, Il; his sister Susan Schanke of Appleton, WI; three grandchildren Zoe, Evie, and A.J. McCarthy; and his step children Dr. Rachel Kovac and Adam Kovac. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and his stillborn daughter Sarah Marie. A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday October 24, 2015 at Prince of Peace Church in Freeport with Rev. Mark Luepke offciating. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Friday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport.
