Paul W. Kampen, 70, a five year resident of Moose Haven Retirement Community, Orange Park, Fla. And former Freeport resident died Monday in Orange Park Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born June 27, 1940 in Freeport the son of William and Lena (Hassabrock) Kampen. He married Lois Balsiger on October 14, 1978 in Freeport. She died April 22, 1997. Mr. Kampen worked for Freeport School District 145 for twenty five years. He was later employed by Freeport Manor Nursing Center and the Moose Lodge. Paul was a former member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Freeport Moose Lodge. Paul loved spending time with his family. Paul is survived by his son; Sam Balsiger of Freeport. His sister; Delores Bicker of Baileyville, his daughter in law, Mavis Balsiger. One niece, Deb( Dave) Foust of Pearl City. Two granddaughters; Loren and Ashley Balsiger. Four great-grandchildren; Matthew, Brooklyn and Serenity Balsiger and Nevaeh Thompson. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his brother in law, Marlin Bicker and his nephew, Craig Bicker . Funeral services will be Friday, 10:00 A.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of service in Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. A memorial has been established.
