Patricia "Patti" L. Ratkovich, 75, of Freeport (long time resident of Lombard) passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on March 5, 2023 at Manor Court in Freeport. Pat was born on June 17, 1947 in Chicago the daughter of Douglas and Violet (Workman) Ailene. She married George Ratkovich, Jr on April 15, 1967 in Cicero, IL. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2013. Patti worked in furniture sales for many years finishing her career with Slumberland in Freeport. She also worked alongside her husband when they owned and operated Lombard Interiors. Pat enjoyed supporting small local businesses in Freeport and cherished the customer base she built while working at Slumberland. She was a loyal customer at Strands getting her hair and nails done. Pat had a love for Alan Jackson and Johnny Mathis. Pat liked taking simple trips to play her favorite slots in Dubuque or Clinton, Iowa. Most of all she loved the simple joys of spending time with her family and her beloved Flash. Pat is survived by her three children, Brian (Marianne) Ratkovich of Suffolk, VA, Robert (Kris Barakauskas) Ratkovich of Minooka, Tricia (Ron) Halter of Freeport; six grandchildren, Austin, Taylor, Brendan and Lauren Ratkovich, Lindsey and Danielle Halter; her siblings, Ronald (Erin) Castner of Portland, OR, William Castner and Celia Castner of New Port Richey, Fl, mother-in-law, Gladys Ratkovich; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Gordon) Zaremba; nieces, Laura (Roger German) Zaremba, Shari (Jerry) Remi; Ashley Sanford, Nephew John (Meghan) Zaremba; great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Tom Ike, Anica and Violet. She is preceded in death by her father, Douglas Ailene; her mother and step-father, Violet (Carl) Castner; step brothers, Ken Castner, Corky Castner and her beloved father-in-law, George Ratkovich, Sr. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Services are private. Burial of Cremated Remains will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Freeport Area Church Co-OP (FACC), VOICES or Freeport Animal Hospital.
