Patricia Ann Schmelzle

February 3, 1933 — June 24, 2013

Patricia Ann (Fahey) Schmelzle passed into the arms of God on Monday June 24, 2013 at Swedish American Hospital, Rockford. Pat was born on February 3, 1933 in Freeport to Patrick and Kathryn (Tappe) Fahey. She was a 1951 graduate of Aquin Central Catholic High School. On April 23, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charles F. Schmelzle at St. Joseph'™s Catholic Church in Freeport. Pat and Chuck recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. Pat was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Provena St. Joseph'™s Auxiliary, St. Thomas Funerals, and Perpetual Adoration Coordinator & Adorer. She was employed at Micro Switch and J.C. Penney. Nothing made Pat happier than cooking and baking, spending time with her family, and attending the many events and sporting events of her children and grandchildren at Aquin Catholic Schools. She was truly a special wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband Chuck, children Cindy (Kurt) Perry of Freeport, Bill (Pam) Schmelzle of Freeport, Dave Schmelzle of Yorkville, and Julie (Kevin) Harn of Freeport. Grandchildren include Marcia (Pat) Kirk of Bloomington, MN, Chris (Megan) Perry of Rockford, Lindsey (Josh Cobb)Schmelzle of Monroe, Aaron & Patrick Schmelzle of Freeport, and Kayla and Rachel Harn of Freeport. Great '"Grandchildren include Elle, Collin, and Kyle Kirk of Bloomington, MN. Also surviving is Pat '™sister, Mary Kay (Larry) Buss of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Kathryn Fahey A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday June 28th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Msgr. P. William McDonnell, Pastor will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. A rosary service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Visitation will also be from 9:30 A.M. until time of mass Friday at Saint Thomas . Burial will be in Cavalry Cemetery in Freeport.
