Patricia A. Meyers

Patricia A. Meyers, 80, of Forreston, died Tuesday December 4, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Meyers was born on November 21, 1932 in Forreston, the daughter of Elmer and Marie (Abels) Brockmeier. On March 17, 1956 she married Richard D. Meyers in Forreston. They farmed the family homestead until Richard'™s death on November 30, 2001. She was a 1950 graduate of Forreston High School. She attended Northern Illinois University. She was employed in the accounting department of Micro Switch in Freeport and at the time of retirement in 1987 she was Manager of the Forreston Journal. While employed at the Forreston Journal she was named to the Marquis Publication of 'Who'™s who of American Women' in 1983 and in 1985 named in the publication of 'Personalities of America' . She was a lifetime member of Forreston First United Methodist Church where she served on the Administration Board, was a Sunday School Teacher, choir member and a member of the Missionary Society. Patricia was an avid reader and enjoyed all kinds of music, playing the piano and organ. She was devoted to her sons and grandchildren. Surviving are sons, Joe (Barbara) Meyers, Stuart (Joyce) Meyers, William (Janet) Meyers, Robert (Amy) Meyers, all of Forreston; brother, Lowell (Barbara) Brockmeier, of Clovis, New Mexico. Also surviving are five grandchildren, three step grandchildren and four step grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Russell 'Red' Brockmeier; sisters, Marjorie Buck and two infant twin sisters, Joan and Jean. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Poust officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. '" 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery.
