Patricia 'Pat' A. Janssen, 71, of Freeport, died Thursday May 10, 2012 after an extended illness. She was at home, surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born January 13, 1941 in Freeport the daughter of Francis and Margaret (Redfearn) Wolfram. She was a graduate of Warren High School and Freeport Memorial Hospital, School of Nursing. Patricia married William 'Bill' E. Janssen on August 5, 1964 in Honolulu, Hawaii, where Bill was stationed in the service. Patricia was as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, working at the Shriner'™s Hospital in Honolulu, St. Clare (Monroe Clinic) Hospital, Monroe, Wisconsin and the Parkview Home in Freeport. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Pat had a love for life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends from all over the country. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading books, writing letters, playing cards and wintering at Nalcrest, Fla. Survivors include; her husband; Bill E. Janssen, three daughters; Sarah (Sean Avent) Janssen M.D., Ph.D. of San Francisco, California; Melinda (Matthew) Benninger of Marquette, Michigan and Gretchen (Jeremy) Yeoman of Freeport, one sister; Marion (Ed) Hubner of Thornton, Colorado. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Caleb and Nate Benninger, Natalie and Kyle Yeoman and Zoe Avent; her brothers-in-law Mike (JoAnn) Janssen and Mack (Sally) Brown, five nieces and two nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Marian Janssen, her father-in-law, William Janssen, her sister-in-law, Phyllis Brown, and one nephew, Phil Brown. Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 16, 2012 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at St. Thomas.
