Orelda M. Edler passed away on Saturday, April 06, 2013 at Provena St. Joseph Home. Born on March 27, 1918 in Florence Township, the daughter of Harvey and Ellen Mayer Hoebel and attended rural Stephenson County Schools. She married Gerald C. Edler on January 3, 1938 in Dubuque, Iowa. He died on November 29, 1987. She was formerly employed at Western Newell Manufacturing Co., S.S. Kresge and for 31 years at E & W Clothing Store in the boys department. A lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church, she taught for many years in the nursery department. She was also a member of the Fellowship Class, Mary Circle of United Methodist Women, a member of the RSVP Volunteer program and a member of Provena, St. Vincent'™s Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons, Jerry L. (DeeAnn) Edler of Freeport and Terry L. (Cathy) Edler of Winnebago, IL. She loved gardening, and was always complemented on her flowers. She was devoted to family and her many lifelong friends. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Anthony (Donna) Edler of Boonville, MO., Tina (James) Flynn of Fargo, N.D., Marcia Boettner of Belvidere, IL and Jodie Forseth of Freeport. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Cody and Garret Flynn, Michael and Andrew Boettner, Adam, Jared, and Elizabeth Edler, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald; sister, Mrs. Ruth (Harry) Pieper of rural Freeport; and brother Eugene H. Hoebel of Petersburg, Virginia. Funeral services will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs. Rev. John Wesley Lee will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs.
