Oneta O. Batie

Oneta O. Batie, 92, of Freeport, died Thursday April 9, 2015 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born September 18, 1922 in Austin, TX, the daughter of Milas and Minnie C. (Kincheon) Overton. She was a friend to all and slighted no one. She always had a story to tell and a smile to share. She filled our lives with a rainbow of colors. That's how she chose to be remembered. She married Leon Batie; he preceded her in death. She leaves to love and celebrate her: two daughters, Beverly (Bill) Robinson and Pat (Rick) Batie; two granddaughters, Beverly and Sonya; four great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and a host of relatives and friends. Oneta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son Vonzo, and her grandson Vonzo II. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday April 18, 2015 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Ricky Stidman officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
