Norma L. Miller

Norma L. Miller, 75, of Freeport, IL passed away Friday November 18, 2022 at Lena Living Center in Lena, IL after a battle with dementia. She was born October 21, 1947 in Monroe, WI to Harold and Ruth (Gille) Penniston. Norma was a graduate of Argyle High School, where she was a baton twirler in the marching band. After a loving marriage to her first husband Thomas Pieper, Norma eventually met and married Herb Miller in 2009 in Las Vegas, NV. Herb passed away August 10, 2016. She was a beautician and through the years she worked on the 11th floor of the Smith Building and in later years she worked out of her home and also at Phyliss' Beauty Nook and later the Pizzaz. She was a very social person who enjoyed playing cards with friends, baking, ice skating, cooking, and traveling, especially to Cancun, Mexico with Herb and her sister Jan. After her retirement, she dedicated her life to her grandchildren. Her grandchildren always looked forward to their frequent visits with Grandma Norma. Ice skating, library visits, pottery painting and renting movies were her favorite pastimes with her grandchildren. Norma is survived by her daughter Stacey (John) Kleindl of Freeport, IL; siblings Jim Penniston of Freeport, IL and Jane Wilkening of Union Grove, WI; and two granddaughters Jena and Ellen Kleindl. Preceding Norma in death are her parents, husband, and brother Dave. Norma would've enjoyed much more love and laughter with her family and friends. Dementia is incurable, but can potentially be slowed with proper monitoring and treatment. If you notice signs in someone you love, take action. Our family has suffered, but yours doesn't have to. Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 3:00-4:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. A service will follow at 4:30 P.M.
