Norma Jean Parkinson, 82, of Freeport, died Thursday April 29, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born August 22, 1938 in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Edith (Hardel) Kurth. On July 29, 1956 she married Jack Parkinson in Williamsburg, Virginia. Mr. Parkinson passed away June 20, 2019. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Norma enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening in her free time. Above all else, she loved attending all her grandchildren's theater, music, and sporting events. Surviving is her son, Tom (Christina) Parkinson of Freeport; daughter, Teresa Parkinson of Freeport; three grandchildren, Katelin, Zack, and Brooke Parkinson; brother, Wayne (Janis) Kurth; two sisters-in-law, Diane Parkinson, and Sharon Kurth; also surviving are many nephews and nieces. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Wendel Kurth; brother-in-law, John Parkinson; sister-in-law, Carol Kurth; and nephew, Leslie Parkinson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 4, 2021 at First Lutheran Church. Pastor Keith Johnson will officiate. Visitation 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sunday May 2, 2021 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lena Burial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Norma's memory. Norma's family have invited all friends to plant a tree or plant flowers in her memory.
