Norma Jean Bawinkel

Norma Jean Bawinkel 96 of German Valley died December 23, 2021. She was born September 28, 1925 in Stephenson County, IL, the daughter of Paul and Clara (Folgate) Kaiser. After graduating from Dakota High School she worked at Micro-Switch. She then married Russell Bawinkel on June 18, 1949. She was a homemaker and helped farm alongside Russell till 1978 when they moved off the farm. She loved gardening and was seen digging her potatoes this past fall. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies, jigsaw puzzles and cross stitch. Norma enjoyed attending various activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the German Valley United Methodist Church. Other memberships included German Valley Historical Museum, XYZ Club, and the Stephenson County Engine Club. Norma also volunteered her time at the Freeport Visitor Center and was a RSVP volunteer. Surviving are two sons Gary (Leigh) Bawinkel of German Valley, Alan (Bonnie) Bawinkel of Freeport; one daughter Pamela (Steve) Greenfield of Forreston; seven grandchildren Michael (Holly) Bawinkel, and Richard Bawinkel, Jeff (Erin) Greenfield, Daryl (Erika) Greenfield, Tammy (Matt) Madura, Daniel (Angela) Bawinkel, James (Amanda) Bawinkel; 17 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Dylan, Owen, Jenna, Caroline, Darin, Lucy, Sophia, Bentley, Wayne, Johnathan, Laney, Mia, Gunnar, Shiloh, Harper, and Chance; one brother Robert (Mary) Kaiser of Flower Mound, TX, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Mary Reed, Brother-in-law Gene Reed, and one grandson. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday December 27, 2021 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL with Rev. Donald Plock officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service.
