German Valley '" Norma F. Collman (nee Peters) of German Valley, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove Village, IL after a brief illness. She was born April 25, 1929 in Brookville, IL the daughter of George and Martha (nee Gravenstein) Peters and graduated from Forreston High School in 1947. She married Willis M. Collman on January 16, 1955 in Forreston, IL. They began their life together on the Collman family farm near German Valley where they farmed together for over 40 years. They retired and moved to German Valley where they enjoyed an active retirement, surrounded by family and friends. In addition to her work on the family farm, Norma was very active in numerous church groups at Silver Creek Reformed and within the German Valley community. She took great pride and enjoyment in her children'™s and later, her grandchildren'™s, education, religious and sporting events. She was an avid volunteer at German Valley Grade School, Stephenson County Visitors Bureau, and many area nursing homes. Over the last several years, she served as co-chairperson of Silver Creek'™s XYZ organization. Norma is survived by her loving husband, Willis, and have been married 58 years. Their children include Steve Collman (Shannon, IL), Janice (Jeff) Sibley (Barrington, IL), John (Dawn) Collman (German Valley, IL), Lowell Collman (Lakeville, MN) and Marlene Collman (Renee Lewis) of Roscoe, IL. Norma deeply enjoyed and guided her seven grandchildren including Ben Collman (Austin, TX), Hannah Collman (German Valley, IL), Abigail Sibley (Milwaukee, WI), Emily Sibley (Barrington, IL), and Matthew, Molly and Mitchell Collman (Lakeville, MN). She is also survived by one brother, Dale Peters, a sister in law, Hazel Peters, and a brother and sister in law, Arnold and Ruby Collman, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Laverne Peters, and sister in law, Gertrude Peters. Visitation will be 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, May 24 at Silver Creek Reformed Church, 326 Bunker Hill Road, in German Valley, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, May 25, at Silver Creek Reformed Church, 326 Bunker Hill Road, in German Valley, IL with visitation from 9 am to 9:45 am prior to the service.
