Nina L Mueller

Nina L Mueller, 70, of Freeport, passed away November 19, 2016 in her home. Nina was born November 15, 1946 the daughter of Otto and Catherine Mueller. Nina was a very loving and compassionate person. She was selfless and always greeted you with a smile. Her presence just left a lasting impression on anyone who came in contact with her. She loved everybody. Although Nina didn't have any biological children she had hundreds of dolls to fill that void. She referred to them as her babies. For the past 15 years Nina was apart of a family that accepted her from the day they met. Wanda Ishman was the person that not only cared for her but also adopted her as family. She took care of her tirelessly and without reserve. She soon became a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend not only to Wanda's family but to everyone that knew her. She was always at family outings and special events. Nina's final wish was to be with her extended family, so as she wished she was surrounded by the family that loved her until her last breath. Nina will be greatly missed. We love you Nina! She graduated from high school in Winside, Nebraska in 1965 and college at Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, NE a few years later. She also studied library science at NIU. She briefly taught school in East St. Louis. She also played and briefly taught the violin. She loved collecting dolls, crafts, and classical music. Nina is survived by her brother Dr. Stephen (Mary Ellen) Mueller of Colorado Springs; nephews Mathew Mueller of Colorado Springs, Mike Mueller of Wenatchee, WA and Mark Mueller of New Orleans. She is preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. November 23, 2016 at City Cemetery with Rev. Keith Johnson officiating.
