Nicole Shawnte Turks

Nicole Shawnt'e Turks 44, affectionally known as Nikki, of Freeport, IL. departed her earthly life on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Nicole was born July 1, 1977 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Paul and Cherri Bruce. Nicole married the love of her life Myron Turks November 9, 2013. She received her formal education through Freeport School District 145, and graduated from Freeport Senior High in 1995. Nicole was a longtime member of First Church of God. She worked many years as a health care provider, having worked at Stephenson Nursing Center, Liberty Village and Dors Home Health Care. She also was employed at Advance and Freeport Senior High as a substitute aid in the BD room. Nicole enjoyed interior Decorating, entertaining, music and dancing. More than anything Nikki loved spending time with her husband, children and especially her grandchildren. Nicole leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her memories, husband Myron Turks of Freeport, IL., three sons, Myron Turks Jr., Nyreek Bruce, and Gary Howard Jr. all of Freeport, IL.; one daughter, Mykia Bruce of Freeport, IL.; two bonus sons, James Manning and Jamerion Turks both of Freeport, IL.; brother, Terrance (Marina) Bruce of Freeport, IL., sister, Treasure Bruce of Freeport, IL.; six grandchildren, Jameir, Journee, Myron III, Myelle, Maraj and Nyreek Jr. all of Freeport, IL.; mother in-love Verdine Allen and a host of nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Nephew Quaveon Meeks who was like a son to her. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Cherri Bruce, grandmother Vanetta Lenoir, great- grandmother Gertrude Minor and grandfather Lenard Betts. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday December 17, 2021 First Church of God 1:00. Visitation 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
