Nathan Floyd Davis

Nathan Floyd Davis was born on March 7, 1931 in Belzoni, Mississippi. He was the second child of nine children born to Nathanial and Velester Davis. Floyd passed away in Greenville, MS on November 18, after an extended illness. Floyd was saved at an early age and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Eld Davis often told the story of how he was filled with the Holy Ghost and called to preach the gospel as he walked along the rail road tracks. Floyd Davis grew up in Holmes County and attended St Paul Church of God in Christ in Belzoni, MS. There he was a member under the pastorate of the late Bishop B.S. Lyles. In 1952, Elder Davis moved from Mississippi with the rest of the Davis family and relocated to Milwaukee. There he became a member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ under the Late Super-intendent J. W. Hudson. Elder Davis was a young preacher and Evangelist. Floyd met Lucille Turner and the two were joined in marriage on April 13, 1965. Floyd and Lucille relocated to Freeport, IL. The two were married until Lucille preceded him in death on May 26, 2003. From this union were born 4 children. While living in Freeport, Elder Davis became a member of Evangelistic Church of God In Christ under W.K. Moore. There he served as an Elder. Elder Davis later started New Hope Open Door Mission COGIC. Floyd was a taxi driver for many years with the Freeport Taxi Service. Throughout the years of being a Freeport resident he made many friends in the community. In 2008, he married Christine Walker in Freeport. He then moved to Indianola, MS. He attended St. Luke Church of God In Christ under Eld Howard until he departed this earth. He was preceded in death by his parents; Deacon Nathaniel and Mother Velester Davis, Brother's: James W., Virgil, and Joseph, sister, Ollie Williams, grandson Dabrice Davis, and wife of 38 years Lucille Davis. He leaves behind to cherish him his wife, Christine Davis, His son's; Floyd (Megan) Davis, Gregory Renard Davis, Frank, Nathan Jr. two daughters; Lucy Davis, and Ruth Anne (Dwayne) Collins, Hallie Mae, Delores; grandchildren; Demetria, Mariah, Jenessia, Greg, Dominique, Aaron, Taira, Caleb, Herman, and Samaria; six great grandchildren, one Aunt, Nellie Miller of Detroit, MI; 2 sisters: Frankie Lee Jones of Milwaukee; LouElla Simmons of Phoenix, AZ; 2 brothers: Cornelius Davis and Elder Harry(Callie) Davis of Milwaukee, WI; several sister and brother in laws, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
