Nancy Weaver

Nancy Weaver (April 21, 1947- January 12, 2024)

Nancy was born in Murphysboro, IL to Charles and Margaret Leonard on April 21, 1947. She was a proud big sister to Sue Ann. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1965. Nancy married David Weaver in 1967. Together they welcomed Mark in September of 1968 and Steve in October of 1969. She was always grateful for her boys’ close age and bond. The family often spent summers in Southern IL with all of her cousins and she loved to share the fond memories that she cherished.

While her boys were young she enjoyed staying at home with them. She went back to school studying education at Rockford University while her boys were in school. Nancy worked at Taylor Park Elementary school and Lincoln School. Upon obtaining her teaching degree, she worked at Milestone in Rockford, IL for 25 years where she found great purpose in helping individuals grow their life skills.

In her retirement, Nancy was a homebody who loved reading her kindle. If you needed company on a long road trip she was the perfect person to call because she loved to catch up and share stories. Her grandchildren brought her much joy. She spent many Tuesday nights taking her granddaughters to dance class and Wendy's when they were young. Breakfasts at Family Affair Cafe were a favorite multi-generational tradition. She also relied heavily on her grandchildren for their tech skills and many silly stories came out of us trying to teach her something on her phone!

She is survived by sons Mark (Julie) Weaver of Byron, Steven (Mary Pat) Weaver of New Lenox, sister Sue Ann (Franc) Bastendorf of Dixon. Grandkids Karlie (Jessten) Heimer of Boone, IA, Amanda Weaver (fiancé Austin Taylor) of Pecatonica, IL, Michael, Matthew and Kaitlyn Weaver of New Lenox. Great grandsons Luke and Theodore Heimer of Boone, IA. She is preceded in death by parents Charles and Margaret Leonard.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday January 16, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Nancy's memory.
