Nada M. Schiesser

Nada Mary Barrett Schiesser died on May 28th, 2013 at Liberty Village, Manor Court in Freeport, Il. The sixth of thirteen children, she was born January 8, 1923, on a farm north of Orangeville to James C. and Hazel Kline Barrett. Attended Oneco Grade School and Orangeville High School. Married Thomas F. Schiesser on Palm Sunday, April 6, 1941, at St. John'™s Church in Monroe, WI, in a double wedding with her brother Gerald Hoyt Barrett and Emilee Goodman (both deceased). Husband Thomas died on October 10, 2000. Nada was employed for 34 years at Micro Switch '" Honeywell. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Honeywell, St. John United Church of Christ, Stephenson Historical Museum, Freeport Arts Center, and the Ladies of the Elks, and the former Germania Club. Volunteer at FHN Gift Shop, care giver and prayer chain member for St. John'™s. Taught Sunday school and was junior department superintendent at the former Main St. E.U.B. Church. Nada enjoyed visiting patients in nursing homes and hospitals, calling shut-ins, and sending cards. She enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens. Loved family gatherings and was an avid reader. Especially loved her four grandchildren and her seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Thomas Fred; her son Jan Thomas (1989); and daughter Jill (David, deceased) Barger; her siblings, Burrell Burnette, James Keith, Gerald Hoyt, Doris Jean Garshva, Genevieve (Frank, deceased) Stamm,; Lois (Byron, deceased) Ruch,; and Inez Eileen (Charles, deceased) Ruch. Surviving brothers are Rydene Kline (Anita, deceased) Barrett, Elbert Dyle (Grace) Barrett, and Duane David (Pat) Barrett. Surviving sisters are Bethel Blanche (Wilbur, deceased) Rose of Rocky Mt., NC, and Nechia Belle (Earl) Wyatt of Freeport. Survived by her daughter Jananne (Jack) James. Four grandchildren, Jodie James (Kurt)Klinger of Evansville, Wi, Christopher (Sara) Barger of Greenfield, Wi, Dr. Jeffrey (Dr. Michel-Ann)James of Freeport, Il and Melissa Ann Schiesser Brooks (Scott) of Rockton, Il. Seven great-grandchildren, Evan John James, Barrett Christopher Barger, Megan Louise Klinger, Hannah Elizabeth James, Cullen Thomas Barger, Conner Allen Brooks, and Grace Elizabeth Brooks. A memorial service for Nada will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at St. John United Church of Christ. Rev. Donnley Dutcher, pastor officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p,m. to time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her name.
