Mildred "Millie" Urban

July 9, 1913 — May 19, 2017

Mildred "Millie" Urban, 103, of Freeport, died Friday, May 19, 2017 at Pearl Pavillion. Millie was born July 9, 1913 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Marie (David) Soukup. She married James Urban on September 16, 1933. They eventually made their home in Brookfield, Illinois, raising their son Kenneth there. After Jim's retirement, they moved to New Port Richie, Florida. Jim died on April 16, 1987; several years later, Millie returned to Illinois, settling in Freeport where she enjoyed making many new friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Jim, brother, Frank Soukup, sister, Vlasta "Val" Korbel, and grandson Mark Urban. Surviving are her son Ken (Sally) Urban; granddaughters, Jeanine (Joel) Penticoff, Joy (Thomas) St. Andrews, and Jennifer (Steve Tellefson) Heiden; great-grandchildren Anthony (Jessica) Penticoff, Matthew (Amanda) St. Andrews, Erin Penticoff (Jory) Zunich, Michael (Rachel Fell) St. Andrews, Megan Penticoff (Robert) Welborn, Mitchell St. Andrews, Marc St. Andrews, Andrew Heiden and Sara Heiden; great-great grandchildren Logan Penticoff, Leo St. Andrews, and Bailee St. Andrews; nephews, Donald (Annette Brooks) Soukup and Robert (Diane) Korbel; niece Carol Korbel LeBreck; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Private family services will be at Chapel of Peace in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Millie's memory.
