Michelle E. Berberet, 40, formerly of Freeport, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Florida Hospital in Orlando. Most recently she resided in Winter Springs, FL. Michelle was born in Freeport on March 5, 1974, the daughter of James M. and Kathleen M. Berberet. Michelle graduated from Aquin Central Catholic High School in 1992, then attended Indiana State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism in 1996. Michelle was Associate Editor for Pizza Today magazine in New Albany, IN, from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 to 2000, she was Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief/Publisher for Gulf/Atlantic Publishing in Winter Park, FL. She was Investor Relations Project Coordinator and Editor for MDC Group, Inc. in Denver, CO from 2000 to 2001. Michelle served as the Coordinator of Information and Publication Services at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, from 2001 to 2011. She also was IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering) Conference Manager from 2005 to 2007 (in South Korea, Orlando, and Greece). Recently, she worked part-time positions and provided writing, marketing and graphic design consulting services. She was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Winter Springs, and the PEO Chapter GG in the Orlando area. Also, she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity at IU. In the Orlando alumnae group, she was past Junior Circle president and member of the voluntary service team for national AGD. Her leisure activities included reading, baking and cooking, photography and travel, and she dearly loved time spent with her niece, nephews and cousins. She always rooted for Notre Dame football, Indiana University basketball, and the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Her favorite memories were of time spent with friends and family at Lake Geneva. Surviving are her parents, Jim and Kathy; her sister Sheila (Dr. Michael) Wells, nephews Owen and Quinlan, and niece Ayden, Galena, IL; very special cousin Mia Schunk, McFarland, WI; Godparents Jim and Cathy Wilson, Delafield, WI; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents Paul and Helen Berberet and Richard and Dorothy Eagan. A memorial has been established in her memory.
