Michael John Tappe

Michael John Tappe, 70, of Freeport, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Michael was born August 20, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of John Paul and Deloris (Cottrall) Tappe. He enjoyed reading, computers, sciences, and mathematics. Michael was a member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving is his mother, Deloris Tappe of Freeport; brother, John J. (Kathy Farley) Tappe of Freeport; sister, Sara Gambarota of Marengo; nieces and nephews, Gino Gambarota and Gina (Patrick) Mayerbock; and two great-nieces, Scarlett and Debbie Mayerbock. Michael was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday August 9, 2019 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Michael's memory.
