Michael Gerald Reichert, 85 of Freeport, passed away in his home on July 17, 2019. He was born in Chicago, IL on October 23, 1933. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Haley) Reichert for 66 years and the son of the late Michael Samuel and Catherine P. (Hellstern) Reichert. He grew up and attended school in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He was an Insurance Agent for many years. He was a previous member of the Jaycees Club and Freeport Park Board Commissioner and President. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks and Golden K Kiwanis Clubs. He sang in the Freeport Choral Society and in the choir of First Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. He organized many legendary charity golf events. He had a good sense of humor and was a great story teller. He is survived by his wife Barbara and six daughters, Michelle Taylor of Kansas City, MO, Dawn Duncan of Freeport, IL, Jackie (Fay) Meiborg of Baileyville, IL, Kay (Dave) Bourscheidt of Peoria, IL, Darcy (Eric) Montes of Mason, OH, and Kristen (Rick) Andrews of Freeport, IL. He is also survived by his sister Jeanette (Tom) Curran of El Cajon, CA. He had thirteen grandchildren Rachel, Heidi, Austin, Jared, Jeffrey, Brian, Burke, Breckin, Evan, Matthew, Jenna, Haley, Allison and ten great grandchildren. The visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church in Freeport on Sunday July 21st from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Funeral services will also be held at First Lutheran Church on Monday July 22nd at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers a Michael G. Reichert Memorial has been established, to be divided amongst his favorite organizations. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
