Michael Funk

Michael Funk, 27, of Freeport, IL taken too soon April 3, 2021. He was born December 30, 1993 in Monroe, WI to Todd Funk and Heidi Shick. Michael graduated from Freeport High School in 2012. He was a true entrepreneur with many talents. From working at the Union Dairy for several years starting as a young teenager, Sullivan foods, First Rate Cleaning, to being your favorite bartender at many local establishments most recently Big O's. Michael always brought the crowds wherever he was because he was the positive energy, the light, the fun, the party, the comfort, the inspiration to so many. Our lives were all better because of him and we will be missing a part of our hearts without him. Michael leaves behind his mom Heidi Shick of Freeport, his little sister Maddie Hintz, special Grandma Carolyn and dad Todd Funk of Freeport, IL; aunts Tracey Brooks of Freeport, IL, Mandy Pfeiffer and Uncle Jamie of Red oak, IL; Great Grandma Violet "Gerry" Shick of Freeport, IL Grandma Sally Funk and Aunt Lena Funk of Freeport, IL. Michael also leaves behind many cousins, Lifelong friends Rachel, Nichole, Josie, Faith, special babysitters recently passed Pam Waller and Judy Diestelmeier of Freeport, the most spoiled cat in the world Piper, and so many more friends along the way that he loved. He is preceded in death by his grandpa's Randy Shick and Gary Funk of Freeport. Grandpa Robert Shick of Freeport Clifford and Florence Klopf of Stockton, IL. Michael was the most inspiring and outgoing son a mother could ask for. He lived life to the fullest and he cherished every moment he got to spend with his grandma Carolyn. Michael was known for his amazing personality was always ready for a spontaneous trip and believed in living life in the moment. He loved vacationing in Clearwater, Florida. For those of us that do not lead such an exciting and fulfilled life like Michael we could always follow him on his many social media platforms for a good laugh, a smile, and even sometimes A oh no you didn't Michael! He loved dining out, living the good life and he did It every day. A visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Friday April 9, 2021 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday April 10, 2021 at Burke-Tubbs. Services will be livestream on Facebook Via Nicole Buss. A celebration of life will follow at Big O's. We will celebrate in a Michael Funk fashion.
