Michael Angelo Zimmermann passed away unexpectedly Friday August 19, 2016 on his 56th birthday. He was born August 19, 1960 in New York, NY, the son of Grace Gingola. Michael was an accomplished chef for most of his life, starting as a teenager in his uncle's pizzeria in New York. His career after graduating from culinary school took him west to Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado before he moved to Freeport ten years ago and continued his career as a chef at both the Freeport and Monroe Country Clubs. Recently he had embraced another love of his life, building repair and construction-operating his own business Handyman Services. For those who were fortunate enough to know Michael, you knew his heart was as big as he was-always willing to lend a helping hand if called on. He will be truly missed by all. Michael is survived by his nephew, Jack Donato, Jr. and a network of nieces, nephews, and cousins from the New York Area. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Gingola; step-father, Jose Berrios; and his two sisters, Debra Donato and Patricia Lovino. Per Michael's request, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be returned to Colorado along with those of his beloved lab Duke who was his faithful companion for 19 years.
