Melissa R. Wurster, 42, of Freeport, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 in her home. Born on November 12, 1971 in Galena, IL., the daughter of Gary Wurster and Lorell (Lingle) Ertmer. Melissa was employed as a Caregiver at the Sleezer Home and Rainbow Ridge in Stockton. She was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church. Melissa was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend who enjoyed painting, crafts and had a wonderful sense of humor. Melissa bravely fought cancer and participated in several clinical trials to help future cancer patients. Survivors... include her parents; Gary (Patsy) Wurster of Peyton, CO and Lorell Ertmer of Stockton; two sons, Caz (Paige) Wurster and Cody Wurster; two daughters, Courtney Wurster and Christiana Hartog; two brothers, Greg (Maren) Wurster of Palmer Lake, CO and Aaron (Kate) Wurster of Dubuque, IA; two sisters, Dawn Wurster of Stockton and Tina (George) Krenzer of South Milwaukee, WI; two step sisters, Shannon (Matt) Newcomer of Colorado Springs and Amanda (Chuck) Van Note of Golden, CO; three grandchildren, Lily Wurster, Lynin Wurster and Lorissa Wurster; also uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her grandparents. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 AM at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport, IL. Rev. Mark Balmer will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-7 PM at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL. There will also be a visitation on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton at approximately 2:30 PM.
