Maxine Brooks

Maxine Brooks, 56, of Memphis, TN, departed this earthly life surrounding by family and friends on Friday, September 20, 2013. Maxine was born on June 25, 1957, in West Mississippi to Earnest Lee and Etta Mae Brooks. Maxine attended the schools in the Freeport School District #145. She was employed at Burger King and a waitress at Topps Bar-B-Q restaurant in Memphis, TN. Maxine enjoyed reading books, watching the Cooking Network Channel and spending quality time with her family. Maxine leaves to cherish her loving memory, her mother, Etta Mae Ross of Memphis, TN; one sister, Marvette Brooks of Rockford, IL; five brothers, Fedil, Chris, Micheal Brooks of Freeport, IL and Patrick Brooks of Rockford, IL, Troy Felton of Maryland. Seven nieces, Diona, Patra, Ke'Asia, Laneeka, Hope, and Destiny of Freeport, IL and Kamajanae of Rockford, IL. Five nephews, Terrance, Dion, Dondre, Fedil, Jr. of Freeport, IL and Javier of Milwaukee, WI. A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A very special friend, Johnny Swoffard; special friends, her Uncle Woodroe Felton, Cousin Patricia Brumfield, sister-in-law, Marylon Brooks, and special friend, Linda Erving. She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Lee Brooks, her grandparents, and one nephew. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist with Pastor Kelvin B. McGee officiating the service. Visitaiton will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Chruch.
