Maudie Beatrice (Crump) Piggues, 88, of Freeport, departed this life Sunday, October 30, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Maudie was born on December 7, 1922 in Forrest City Arkansas, the daughter of Claude Crump and Beatrice (Green) Jackson. Maudie married James Piggues May 8, 1957. She moved to Freeport from Forrest City Arkansas in 1968. She worked at the Holiday Inn and Structo Division, she later went to work at Micro Switch a division of Honeywell until her retirement in 1988. Maudie loved to keep her family together; she enjoyed shopping, traveling and attending her yearly family reunion. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a mother to many of her neighbors and friend. Maudie confessed her life to Christ at an early age. She joined St. Martian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Ernest Curry; she later joined Philippians Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev Nathan Allison, she was a faithful member of the Mothers board. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories; three sons, Kenneth (Pearl) Williams of Flint, MI., James (Terrine) Piggues of Freeport and Barry (Judy Lambert) Piggues of Rockford; six daughters; Verner Williams, Patricia (David) Ellis, Connie (Piggues) Jocelyn, Daneice Davis, Rikki Newton all of Freeport and Emma McCoy of Vero Beach, FL; one sister, India Williams of Freeport; thirty two grandchildren; sixty five great grandchildren and three great grandchildren she raised, Akia, Malasia and Dessira Jordan, five sister-in-laws; Marie Matthews, Claudia Williams, Dorothy Rucker of Memphis, Charlene (Lee) Dockery of Seattle and Inell Bobo of Freeport, many great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty five years James Piggues, one daughter Algerice Horde, one granddaughter Jacqueline Horde Bruce, one grandson William Patrick Lucas, great granddaughter Tahia Piggues, her parents, seven brothers and five sisters. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Phillipians Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
