Maryjean Fusco

MaryJean Fusco (Brillhart) was born on Dec 31, 1924 on the farm. She died on April 23, 2023 at the age of 98 after living a full and vibrant life. Mary Jean was the only child of Archie and Bertha Brillhart (Roberts) spent her entire life here in Freeport. She first attended a one room schoolhouse…. rode her horse to the school on Pearl City Road and her family had one of the first Model As, which she sometimes drove to Freeport High School. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1942. After meeting the love of her life at a Masonic Temple dance, she married George Fusco on Oct 17 1947. They had 2 boys, Ronald (Ron) and Robert (Bob) Fusco. She was an active lifetime member of Van Brocklin Church and sang in the choir into her late 80s.

Her family lovingly teased her during gatherings while we rummaged through her pantry to find the oldest thing there- sometimes jars over 30 yrs old. She loved life and her family. She was a staunch supporter of her husband, her sons and her grandchildren and her love was felt by her presence in their lives. She and George visited all 50 states, often driving with their dear friends Tony and Lorene Sciutto. Mary Jean was a card shark-played penny anty poker on Mondays with the same group of friends for over 70 years and was always on the winning team when the family got together to play euchre.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George P Fusco. She is survived and incredibly missed by her sons, Ron (Kathy) Fusco, Bob (Donna McIntyre), grandchildren Todd (Lorena Nichols) Fusco, Crea (Gena) Fusco and Zaya (Chris) DeNardo, Vanese (Don Corey), Jamie (Adam Scherd) Clough and Jesse (Ryan Batten), along with her great grandchildren Ford and Leo Fusco, Ben and Elena DeNardo, Camille Corey, and Ruby and Mabelline Batten.

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday May 5, 2023 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Dawn Barr officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in her memory.
