Mary V. Reed, 85, of Cedarville, died Friday October 21, 2016 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born August 18, 1931 in Stephenson County, IL, the daughter of Paul and Clara (Folgate) Kaiser. She married Gene Reed December 19, 1953 in Cedarville, IL. Mary was a homemaker and helped run the family business Reed's Service in Cedarville including plowing the snow. She loved gardening working first with her father Paul then with her son. She loved to share her produce from her garden with the community. She enjoyed cooking for her family watching various sporting events. For many years her and her mother were leaders of the Greenville 4-H Club. Mary and her family were actively involved with the Stephenson County Fair for many years. She was a member of the Cedarville Historical Society and a 60 year member of the Stephenson County Homemaker Extension. Mary is survived by her husband Gene Reed, her son John "Butters" Reed both of Cedarville, IL; her sister Norma Bawinkel of German Valley; her brother Robert (Mary) Kaiser of Flower Mound, TX; her sister-in-law Donna Untersee of Freeport, IL; seven nieces, and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Kathleen Reed. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday October 25, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Bill Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Cedarville Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
