Mary L. Remmers

Mary L. Remmers, 83, of Freeport, Illinois died on February 12th, 2020 after a battle with cancer. Born in Pecatonica, Illinois on June 28th, 1936, the daughter of Ben and Annie (Becker) Zweep. Graduated from Winnebago High School in June 1953. Married Leo D. Remmers on March 12, 1954, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Rockford, Illinois. He passed away on July 3rd, 1995. Employed by several firms including Fehr, Graham & Associates and Helsley Supply Company in Freeport as an office manager until her retirement in 1999. Survived by daughters Diana Howarth (Gary Arola) and Lisa Krohmer (Harlan); daughter-in-law Cindy Nielcen (Mark); granddaughters Jennifer Remmers, Brittany Krohmer, Ashley Nielcen, and Alicia Barkley; great-granddaughters Kirstin Gierhart and Shell Gierhart; great-great-granddaughters Ivy and Kaylin; sister Lillian Vola; companion Bill Schmittel and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, husband Leo, son Earl and son-in-law, David, and four brothers. Visitation from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and Memorial Service to follow on Saturday, February, 22nd at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport.
