Mary F. Van Meter, 95 of Freeport, died Friday, June 12, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Center. Mary was born on November 25, 1919 in Elwood, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel and Crystal Bratton. Mary married Earl Cleaver on December 24, 1939. Mr. Cleaver passed away on August 3, 1964. Mary was employed at General Tire and Rubber in Wabash, Ind. When she moved to Freeport she worked at Crum & Forster Insurance Company and Micro Switch for many years. Mary was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was also a member of The Red Hats. Mary liked to bowl and went to many state and national tournaments. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her grandkids. Mary is survived by two daughters, Carol Campbell of Freeport and Mary Jean Simpson of Indianapolis, Ind. Mary is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Cleaver; and two sons; Michael Cleaver and Earl Cleaver. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday June 19, 2015 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephen Precht will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forrestville Cemetery in Summitville, Indiana. A memorial has been established for Mary in her memory.
