Mary E. Vivian

Mary E. Vivian, 81, of Freeport, passed away, Sunday June 18, 2023, at Ascension Living and St. Joseph Village. Mary was born October 30, 1941, in LaMoille, Illinois, the daughter of Joe C. and Alice (Smith) Baker. She married Darrel R. Vivian on August 7, 1964, in Rockford, IL. Mr. Vivian passed away July 12, 1992. Mary served as a Librarian for the Pearl City Public Library for 25 years. Mary was a member of Faith for Miracle Deliverance and Worship Center. Mary was a Moonspinner who was devoted to sewing, knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. She enjoyed researching genealogy and was a lifelong reader. She loved being a mom, grandma, and great-grandma.

Surviving is her son, Roy (Melissa) Vivian of McFarland, Wisconsin; daughter, Elizabeth (Steve) Ulrick of Freeport; brother, David Baker (Bev) of Beloit, Wisconsin; sister, Carolyn Zuehls of Appleton, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Mark (Tammy) Vivian, Melissa (Lee) Bachelder, Ben Vivian, and Cassie (Joe) Buhlig; also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Molly McDonald, Evelyn and Olivia Bachelder, and Beau Buhlig, Mary's son Edward Vivian of Bloomington survived her for a brief time. (Ed sadly passed away on Monday June 19, 2023). She also had a special place in her heart for her nephews and nieces; Sam (Johanna) Zuehls, Jonah, Henry, and Daniel; Sarah (Brad) Erickson, Chloe & Elijah; Stuart (Jen) Zuehls, Luke & Haley; Mike (Cheri) Baker, Alex & Jessica; Paul (Dawn) Baker.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday June 23, 2023, at Faith for Miracle Deliverance and Worship Center, 3247 S. Baileyville, Freeport. Visitation 4:00 pm – 7:00 Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. There will also be a visitation Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Repose Cemetery, Amboy. A memorial has been established in Mary’s memory.
