In loving memory of Mary E. (Lutz) Hyde (80) passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, April 3, 2021. She was born February 13, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York. She married Joel P. Hyde on August 3, 1962. She was an editor for the Our Lady of Lord school newspaper and worked at Macy's in high school. After moving to Freeport, she was an inspector at Honeywell in the 70s. She went on to be a manager and instructor at Creative Urge in the 80s. In her retirement, she volunteered at the Voices Book Nook. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Forreston and was part of the quilting group at the church. Mary was a volunteer extraordinaire and cheerleader for her children and grandchildren such as Orangeville PTO, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Room Mother, and cookie and cupcake baker. She loved league bowling, jigsaw and word puzzles, and reading. She was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Bulls, and college sports. She is survived by her daughters Michelle (Rick) Nelson, April Hyde, Katherine Shaw, Valerie (Geno) Francione, and Erin (David) Block. Her grandchildren Brandon, Joseph, Joshua, Lucas, Derrick, Emily, Sawyer, Trevor, Audra, Anna, Sean, and Alexander. Her great-grand children Wesley, Gaige, Jayson, Parker, Jameson, and Payton. Her treasured, life-long friend and sister-in-heart Norma (Rocky) Munson and family. Her cousins Jeanette Leung and Patricia Gelpi. Her nephews Robert, Michael, and Skipper (Norman) Grams. She is preceded in death by her husband Joel P. Hyde, father Michael Lutz, mother Mary Lutz (Gyongyossy), and sister Margaret Lynch (Lutz). She will be cremated and buried along side her husband. A visitation will be held from 4-6:00 P.M. Wednesday April 7, 2021 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. at St. James Lutheran Church in Forreston, with Rev.
