Mary C. Johnson

Mary C. Johnson, 86, of Shannon, died Thursday January 17, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Mary was born on July 9, 1926 in Freeport, the daughter of Oliver and Ruth (Moring) Bastian. Mary married Albert J. Johnson on October 22, 1944 in Beloit, Wisconsin. Mr. Johnson died on February 9, 1998. Mary worked at Micro Switch for 32 years. She was a 50 year member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and having coffee while visiting with her friends at her home. Surviving Mrs. Johnson are her son, James Johnson of Shannon; and daughter Carolyn (Paul) Deininger of Shannon; two brothers, Leonard Bastian of Freeport, Robert (Helen) Bastian of Freeport; Three grandchildren, Dr. Roslyn(Michael Hooper) Sword and their son Bishop Hooper of Tennessee, Andrew (Fiancee, Kelly Anderson)Chesney of Freeport and Alicia Chesney of Minnesota. Also, Heidi(Bryan) Houy and Brooke Wagner. Four step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Joel; grandson, Adrian; and sister-in-law Janet Bastian. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22 at Bethel United Methodist Church, Shannon, Rev. Steve Aram, pastor will officiate. Private committal service will be held.
