Mary "Betty" E. Holmes

Mary "Betty" E. Holmes, 87, of Freeport, died Wednesday March 15, 2017 at the New Glarus Home, New Glarus, Wisconsin. Betty was born June 26, 1929 in Morocco, Indiana, the daughter of Wilbur and Wilma (Conn) Deardurff. She married Joe D. Holmes on June 2, 1956 in Morocco, Indiana. Mr. Holmes passed away March 23, 1997. She worked for General Telephone Company from 1948-1960. Betty then worked for the Freeport Clinic. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and of the Ladies of Elk's. She enjoyed traveling, reading, baking candy for many church events, and playing cards in one of the many card clubs she was a part of. Surviving is her daughter, Lisa Ann (William) Watkins of Argyle, WI., two grandchildren, Rachael (Heath) Catron and Brandon (Taylor Cipri) Watkins; two nephews Mark (Rene) Deardurff and children and Jeff (Cheryl) Deardurff and sons; and special friend Pat Reel. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Donald. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 18, 2017 at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church in Betty's memory.
