Martha Ruter

Martha Jenny Hilka Ruter, 96, of Baileyville, died Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the Polo Rehab and Health Care Center. Martha was born on September 14, 1915 in Titonka, IA the daughter of Matthew and Gertie (Pannkuk) Tiedens. On August 28, 1940 Martha married John A. Ruter in Titonka, IA. John died on March 18, 2002. Martha was a member of Baileyville Reformed Church. She enjoyed baking wedding cakes, collecting and repairing antique dolls, painting beautiful landscapes, Quilting and traveling. Martha also was a volunteer for FHN Memorial hospital. Survivors include; two sons; David (Duska) Ruter of Baileyville and Rev. Paul Z. Ruter of New Paltz, NY; one daughter; Marlene (Bradley) Ford of Polo, Il; five grandchildren Renee (Bruce) Setterstrom of Monroe, WI, Christine (Craig) Williams of Freeport, Il, Paul (Stacy) Ruter of Greensboro, NC, Sarah (Joe) Hull of Wallkill, NY, and Zachary Gill of Dekalb, IL; and three great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and two brothers. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday May 5, 2012 at Baileyville Reformed Church with Rev. Ben Kappers officiating. Visitation will be Friday May 4, 2012 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
